I had ideally thought the wedding day should be about you and your bride and a celebration of your love with your friends and family without any interruptions. With Aimee, this was translated from the hypothetical ideal to reality.

“There were days when we needed more than a wedding planner and you always rose to the occasion.”

In that moment I knew...
The lights were dimmed, the candles were lit, and the bride and her father were dancing to “What A Wonderful World”. It was perfect.
However, as guests were engaged in the last special moment between a father and his daughter, my eyes caught sight of the bride’s grandmother who was sitting in a wheelchair with her back turned to the dance floor. As the rest of the room was soaking in this touching moment, no one had noticed she wasn’t able to see the dance floor. Immediately, I went over and asked if I may turn her around. She looked up at me with an expression of pure gratitude – it was absolutely priceless. I realized at that moment, so was my job.
Taking care of people is at the heart of every event. I enjoy being the eyes and ears at your wedding and perfecting every detail before you even notice it.
And, speaking of details … here are a few about me!
Hi! I’m Aimee Hardenbergh, the owner of True Wedding Events. Born and raised in Virginia Beach, I’ve lived in the DC metropolitan area since graduating from college. Every time I go into DC, I think “WOW! This city is amazing and I can’t believe it’s my backyard!”
I met my husband on a blind date in college. I remember being a little leery of the whole blind date thing and saying to a girlfriend “I don’t know… he’s going on a blind date” and she said “yeah…and so are you!”. After all these years, he is still my best friend. The success of our marriage definitely lies in our shared faith. Together we have the honor of raising two really fun (and funny!) kids that we are so proud of. I also love the beach and everything about hanging out on the water; sailing, jet skiing, throwing out a line to catch crabs and making pina coladas! I am trying to learn to country line dance but, boy, that is more complicated than it looks! Some of my favorite things are dancing, mystery karaoke (you’ve gotta ask!), brainstorming, laughing out loud, and my fuzzy third child, our cat, Demi.
Before starting my own bridal consulting company I was the Special Event Coordinator for a meetings and conventions company for eight years. I traveled all over the country organizing groups of 60 to 2,500 people. My nickname was “The Idea Girl” because I love brainstorming new ways of doing things and creating creative solutions to possible challenges.
Among many things, I’ve coordinated a custom Second City comedy show (of Saturday Night Live fame) in Chicago, a green reception in NYC before green was the buzzword, sightseeing bus tours in Oregon, and breakfast in Nashville with country music song writer of the year. In my own backyard, highlights include an awards luncheon at the Ronald Reagan building with the Secretary of Transportation, an annual DC gala DC for 500 people, and several years coordinating a professional tennis tournament to benefit the special needs community of Northern Virginia. You can trust that I know how to get your wedding party from point A to point B, on time, fed and happy. Hey, I may even throw in a light show along the way!
